Report - QLD Open Day

June 3, 2010

This fun day of tennis was a great opportunity for everyone to get out onto Centre court, meet coach Scott Rawlins from Tennis QLD, and show their tennis talent!  To get the ball rolling Scott explained the different balls used for coaching, demonstrated some techniques and then had everyone playing some tennis games.  Deaflympians Jamie Zafir and Tom Pell were on hand to have a hit and provide inspiration, and it was great to see such an enthusiastic group of kids & adults.    Thanks also to...

Report - Vic Champs

On May 16th we had glorious weather for our Vic Champs event at Melbourne Park.  We had plenty of entries for the men's and women's round robin events, and a very full afternoon of tennis was had by all.  Well done to those juniors who played up against the adults when the events were combined!

VIC - Mini Circuit

All beginner tennis players are invited to join us with Tennis Victoria at a Mini Circuit event, at Melbourne Park, on Sunday June 6th.  This fun tournament is a perfect introduction to competition tennis, and it is also a special experience to play at the same venue as the Australian Open!

Vic Deaf Tennis Champs Event

On Sunday May 16th, we have our first tournament in Vic in a while!  This one-day event, at a fantastic venue in Melbourne Park (same place as the Aust Open) is a great opportunity to come and play, especially if you haven't been involved before.  As usual, this event is open to everyone who meets the eligibility criteria, whether you describe yourself as deaf, hard of hearing, hearing impaired, cochlear implantee, hearing aid wearer, etc.

Deaf Tennis Open Day - Tasmania

March 14, 2010
For all deaf, hard-of-hearing, hearing impaired, cochlear implantees, and their friends and family.  All ages, all standards (modified equipment is available on request).  The aim is for everyone to enjoy some tennis and make contact with other deaf tennis players.  This is also a great opportunity to have a hit at a fantastic tennis venue - the Domain Tennis Centre in Hobart.  Details & registration.

USA Deaf Tennis Open

The 2010 USA Deaf Tennis Open has just been announced by the CISS and the USA Deaf Sports Federation and will be held on July 16th-19th in Las Vegas (additional info on Facebook).  The tennis tournament start just before the deafnation expo - so it will no doubt be a huge week in Las Vegas!  We would like to have as many Aussies as possible competing and watching, and we already have several people who have expressed a firm interest.  If you are interested in coming, please check out the flye...

NSW Sports Community Meeting
